The protracted struggle to end police violence initially focused on getting justice for individual victims of police violence. The struggle has evolved to get to the systemic roots of repression. The fight against police violence is one of the pillars of the Organization for Black Struggle and OBS has continuously organized resistance to the armed occupation of police in the Black community. OBS has educated and agitated, asserting that the primary role of police was to control and terrorize neighborhoods of color and working-class whites. OBS has been a consistent voice in the struggle against police misconduct and abuse, especial since police are the first point of contact onto the assembly of the Prison IndustrialComplex.
