Reproductive Justice Organizations Condemn Unpopular Billboard Campaign
-
Description
-
“The Most Dangerous Place for an African American is in the Womb" was a slogan popularized in 2011 by conservative and pro-life organizations, notably the Texas-based group Life Always, which launched a high-profile billboard campaign.
Similar iterations and placements subsequently appeared in predominantly Black neighborhoods in other major urban areas, including St. Louis, Missouri.
Civil rights activists, local politicians, and reproductive justice groups, such as SisterSong and the Trust Black Women Coalition, condemned the ads as racist, sexist, and shaming toward Black women.
