We Will Never Stop Fighting for Black Women
-
Description
-
Radical Black women soundly rejected the feminism of the predominately white women’s movement. Inside of the Congress of African People’s (CAP) social organization and other Black formations, women were exploring how feminism affected their lives as well as their roles in their respective organizations. The women of the Organization for Black Struggle studied the Combahee River Collective Statement and other writing by Black feminists who were deepening the new theory. By the time the United Nations’ Decade of Women launched in 1985, OBS women were ready to raise the banner of Black feminism on a world stage and unite women of African descent from around the world. The women of OBS have participated in women’s international conferences that harnessed the power of women for global change. (See pages 4 and 5 of the OBS 45th Anniversary Publication)
